With a delicious pint of Boddingtons Pub Ale.
I was at a going way get together for one of my wife’s co-workers over at Barney’s Irish Pub in good ol’ Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
Some of the guys she works with are pretty cool and one of them, who I will remember fondly forever, ordered a Boddingtons and out of habit of hearing the name of a beer I hadn’t had before, I ordered the same.
When the pint of rich golden ale came to the table, I was aghast with inquiry as the beer was still settling out. I thought only stouts did that!?!?! Silly me. Right then, I knew my life would never be the same ever again. Everything I thought I knew about beer was thrown back into the sea of ignorance.
I fell in love…

(Begin dream sequence: Que the soft music and Barry White voice over) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~I approached her slowly.
I watched her for a while from a safe distance.
I didn’t want to upset the beautiful pattern of ripples running down her side.
Once things seemed to calm down and she was nice and settled, I brought her up for a drink…
She came closer and closer to my face and her scent was intoxicating.
I was taken away to a seaside field with the sweet aroma of fresh grain carried on an ocean breeze.
As she moved closer to my lips, I wondered if my life would ever be the same again.
I drank…
… and She was goooooood.
She was smooth, silky, creamy and delicious all the way to the last drop.
(End dream sequence) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I don’t know how long we’ll be together or where I see this relationship going but I can tell you this:
If I’m in a bar that carries Boddingtons, that’s the only beer you are going to see sitting on my coaster for a long time to come.
Have you ever fallen head over heels for a beer?
